Khaberni - The National Cyber Security Center said on Sunday that the number of cyber incidents targeting the national network during the second quarter of this year was 965 incidents.
The center added in its cyber security situation report for the second quarter of 2025 that the rate of decrease in cyber incidents was 26%, the rate of decrease in serious cyber incidents was 42%, while response operations totaled 66, and digital analysis operations numbered 30.
The report, which "Khaberni" reviewed, revealed that 88% of incidents are of medium severity, while 11% are low, and 1% are severe.
The center emphasized the need to adopt effective cyber security measures and continuous monitoring to protect sensitive data and critical infrastructure.
The center said that it expects the upcoming period to witness changes in the tools and techniques used in cyber attacks, where attackers are believed to rely more on artificial intelligence capabilities; this increases the complexity of these attacks and leads to more widespread damage. Supply chains linked to targeted institutions may also be exploited more extensively.
The center called for keeping up with changes in the cyber threat landscape and effectively confronting advanced cyber threats; for institutions to implement effective cyber security strategies and policies such as relying on the "Zero Trust" principle that requires ongoing security verification processes of user identities and permissions, and limiting access to only necessary digital and critical resources of the institution.
It is also recommended to work on improving awareness programs and continuously training employees to recognize the latest methods used in phishing operations and social engineering techniques; to enhance protection from risks associated with supply chains, it is recommended to conduct comprehensive security assessments for external partners as well as to use AI-based protection systems capable of detecting and responding to cyber threats instantly to confront advanced attacks.
