Khaberni - The world celebrates on Sunday, World Teachers' Day, which occurs on October 5th each year, at which time the number of teachers in public schools by the end of the year 2023 reached 96,288 teachers, and the number of private education teachers 42,860 teachers, according to data issued by the Department of Statistics,
World Teachers' Day is an opportunity to celebrate achievements and consider ways to address the remaining challenges in order to enhance the teaching profession, according to UNESCO.
Regarding the schools spread across the kingdom, there are 4062 government schools comprising 60,464 school classes, with 1.6 million boys and girls enrolled.
As for private education, the number of schools reached 3234 schools comprising 29,000 classes with 555,141 students, and thus the Ministry of Education supervises 54% of the schools in the kingdom, with private education overseeing 43% of them and 2% under the supervision of the UNRWA, and 1% under the category "other government," according to the statistics.
A joint message was issued by UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and the Director-General of the International Labour Organization Gilbert Houngbo and UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell and the General Secretary of the International Education Union David Edwards on the occasion of World Teachers' Day, October 5/October 2025
On this year's World Teachers' Day, UNESCO, the International Labour Organization, UNICEF, and the International Education Union called collectively upon governments, partners, and the international community to commit to recognizing collaboration as a fundamental cornerstone of the teaching profession, because effective collaboration at all levels is the way and only means to establish inclusive, equitable, and resilient educational systems worldwide.

And this year's World Teachers' Day celebrations focus on the theme "Reinventing the Teaching Profession as a Collaborative Profession," highlighting the transformative potential of collaboration for teachers, schools, and educational systems.
