Khaberni - A horrifying crime occurred in England, where three teenage girls assaulted a 75-year-old man by beating him to death in a random attack that was filmed on a mobile phone.
A court in London, on Saturday, sentenced the three girls to a total of 9 years: two and a half years for one defendant (15 years old), three and a half years for one of the girls (17 years old), and four years for her sister.
The judge refused to lift the ban on revealing their identities due to "unusually difficult upbringing circumstances", as reported by "The Sun" in Britain.
Assault Details
The victim, named Freddie Rivera, was standing near a bus stop in the Islington area of north London in February when the girls got off a bus and approached him while drunk.
Camera footage showed the teenage girls shouting at the man during the assault, screaming in his face, and one of them said: "I don't care", while another challenged him saying, "Hit me if you can." Moments later, the man fell before they screamed again, "He's dead," as his blood flowed on the ground.
The elderly man was taken to the hospital in critical condition but died the next day due to severe head injuries.
Allegations
According to eyewitnesses, the girls claimed that the man had harassed them, but the prosecution completely denied this, confirming that the assault was "an unjustified attack under the influence of alcohol".
The police arrested the girls on charges of causing grievous harm, and later were charged with manslaughter. During the raid on one of the girls' home, officers heard a conversation between her and her father about "getting rid of the evidence," and blood-stained clothes were found inside the washing machine.
During interrogation, one of the girls (17 years old) tried to absolve herself of responsibility and blamed another, saying: "She assaulted him, not me," and then added, "This man did not deserve to die... but I indeed killed someone."
Criminal Record
The investigations revealed that the youngest girl, 14 years old at the time of the incident, had a previous criminal record for assaulting a homeless woman in December 2024, and one of the other girls had previous assaults on emergency workers and racially motivated harassment.
Inspector Devan Taylor, the officer in charge of the investigation, offered his condolences to the victim's family, praising their steadfastness during the trial. He said, "This was a brutal and unjustified attack on an elderly man walking his way, and what makes the crime even more egregious is that they found filming the assault amusing," and thanked the citizens who provided immediate assistance and crucial testimonies that led to their arrest within hours.
