From Amman Ahliyya University Amman TV and Rotana meet Dr AlHourani and Dr Hamdan about modern specializations and technical education

Khaberni - Amman Ahliyya University hosted the "AmmanTV and Rotana" satellite channels on its campus just before it celebrated the first day of the summer semester students' graduation of the 32nd cohort last week.
The channels got a look at the significant developments the university has witnessed, whether in terms of its infrastructure of buildings, facilities, and modern equipment for its colleges and laboratories, or in terms of huge student diversity from various nationalities.
•    The channels' presenters conducted an interview with Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, the chairman of the university's board of directors, who welcomed the presenters "who praised the journey of success, achievement, and significant development of the university," where he jokingly said, "seeing is not like hearing".
Then he spoke in response to a question about the nature of technical education, saying: Technical education is an educational path that emphasizes providing learners with practical technical skills alongside theoretical knowledge, aiming to meet the requirements of the labor market amid rapid global developments in the educational, economic, and technical fields.
This type of education is distinguished by the diversity of its specializations and meets the needs of the labor market by providing it with qualified staff to bridge the gap between education and the requirements of this market, thus contributing to economic development and reducing the unemployment rate by more than 40% in general.
He pointed out the entry of this type of education into various fields and specializations, whether in engineering, architecture and interior design, informatics, medical, agricultural, and other specializations.
He also noted the distinction of the nursing specialization at the university and that through signing an agreement with Austria and Germany, the university provides job opportunities for Jordanians from this specialization about 200 jobs "priority for university graduates" where 200 applicants are selected "after they study the German language" where their capabilities are tested before job acceptance, and they immediately get a job and are given nationality, a high salary, housing, and other benefits.
He talked about the specialization of cosmetology at the university and its importance, expressing his thanks to the government and the Ministry of Health, the Legislation Department, and Higher Education for approving the professional practice law for graduates of this specialization.
He emphasized the importance of Jordan being the first Arab country to adjust the tracks and systems of the Tawjihi by adopting the BTEC system, making the education system comprehensive and in line with global development, embodying the directions of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness the Crown Prince, according to what is appropriate for our country and culture, and directed thanks to the Minister of Education and Higher Education and the Higher Education Council.
He mentioned the diversity of labor market needs in Arab countries and abroad.
He referred to the student academic advising department and the presence of an academic advisor for each college who is familiar with the specializations and requirements of his college to assist the students.
He affirmed that the university is not only a place to grant degrees but also for the development and polishing of a student's personality, and the acquisition of life skills, and that the interaction of students from more than 60 nationalities provides a distinguished and unique interaction.
•    The presenters also conducted another interview with Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, the university president, in which he talked about his encouragement of extracurricular student activities that polish their personality, and that the university offers 3 full scholarships for those who achieve an important sports achievement raising the nation's flag, because that also raises the name of the university through sports championships.
Regarding the leadership of Amman Ahliyya in the global rankings, Dr. Hamdan said: Our achievements in the rankings are the result of the collective effort of a single team, as in QS our ranking is third domestically for universities and the first among private universities, and in Times it is excellent. What is important is to maintain what has been achieved and to work on improving it.
About modern specializations and the college of Technical Education, he said:
We have integrated artificial intelligence and its applications in all university specializations and have introduced network security and artificial intelligence, as well as digital specializations in architecture and interior design, along with developing several specializations such as international accounting and others.
Regarding the specializations of the College of Technical Education needed in the job market, he said: In light of our accreditation from Pearson, a successful high school student with a grade above 50 percent studies for two years to obtain the diploma, and after graduation, job opportunities are provided in more than 78 countries worldwide, or he can study for one year in the UK to obtain a bachelor's degree or bridge at Amman Ahliyya University to obtain a bachelor's degree in the same specialization.
He thanked the Higher Education Council, represented by the Minister of Higher Education, for approving that a student completing the diploma from the college is not required to take the comprehensive exam to bridge and complete the bachelor's degree.
He pointed out that the university has an advisory council at each college with a member from the job market relevant to the specialization.
He said: At the university, 54% of the students are from abroad, and the university treats everyone with the same standards without discrimination.
He advised parents to let their children choose the specializations they want to study because by doing so they excel.
At the end of the interview, the president presented the presenters with the university's appreciation shield to honor them.
