Khaberni - The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, welcomed the initiative of US President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza and to proceed with finalizing details, in response to the positive statements from the "Hamas" movement, which he welcomed for the release of all detainees and positive engagement at this stage.
Abbas renewed his commendation of the great efforts by President Trump to end the war in Gaza, and the move towards lasting peace, with gratitude extended to the Arab and Islamic countries that are making efforts in this regard, (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, UAE, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan).
Abbas affirmed the readiness of the State of Palestine to constructively work with the US President from this moment, with all concerned partners, and the co-chairing of the International Peace Conference in New York, the chairpersons of the working groups, the Arab member in the Security Council, Algeria, and all members of the Security Council and General Assembly, to achieve stability and lasting and fair peace in accordance with international legitimacy.
Abbas emphasized, "What matters to us now is the immediate commitment to a complete ceasefire, the release of all hostages and prisoners, the introduction of urgent humanitarian aid through United Nations organizations, ensuring no displacement or annexation, and the start of the reconstruction process."
In this context, he said, "The sovereignty over the Gaza Strip belongs to the State of Palestine, and the connection between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip must be made through the laws and institutions of the Palestinian government, by a Palestinian administrative committee and unified Palestinian security forces, within a framework of a single system and law, and with Arab and international support."
He added, "We will continue to work with the mediators and concerned partners in order to make these efforts successful, leading to the realization of permanent peace that ends the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine and its capital, East Jerusalem."
Abbas reminded "the international community of its responsibility to compel Israel to stop all its unilateral actions that violate international law, foremost among them stopping the settlement expansion and settler terrorism, attacking holy sites, and withholding Palestinian tax revenues."
Abbas affirmed that the independent, sovereign State of Palestine is the natural partner for stability in the region alongside Israel.
