Khaberni - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinian people stand today before a pivotal and decisive stage that requires everyone to take up their responsibilities in order to preserve the gains and achievements made with significant sacrifices.
The President added in a statement on Friday, "We renew our commitment to conducting general presidential and parliamentary elections within one year from the date the war ends."
The statement followed the conditions for candidacy, which prohibit any party or political force or individual from running unless they adhere to the political program and international and legal obligations of the Palestine Liberation Organization, implement the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, decisions of international legitimacy, the principle of one system and one law, and the existence of a single legitimate security force, according to the statement.
The statement added, "We affirm our determination to continue our efforts to expand the international recognition of the State of Palestine and full membership in the United Nations."
It continued, "We have tasked the relevant authorities with completing a provisional constitution for the state to be finished within three months and to form the basis for the transition from the authority to the state."
Palestinian President said in the statement, "We have directed the government to continue developing and updating the educational curricula to comply with UNESCO standards, to be completed within two years in accordance with the international commitments we have made."
Abbas affirmed adherence to the Palestinian identity and constants, and to the national values of peace, renouncing violence and incitement, including in the media, educational curricula, and cultural field.
Abbas reiterated the commitment of the State of Palestine to the implementation of Law No. (4) for the year 2025 and the cancellation of all previous laws and instructions related to the entitlements of families of prisoners, martyrs, and the wounded, transitioning to a unified social care and protection system according to international standards.
He concluded, "All categories that the new law applies to are obligated to fill out the unified form to apply the eligibility standards for receiving cash allowances when the conditions are met."
