Khaberni - The governor of Jerash, Dr. Malik Khreisat, confirmed that the committee, formed by the governorate and the mill owners' association, along with the Ministries of Agriculture and Environment and the Food and Drug Administration, intensifies its field regulatory rounds in preparation for the olive harvesting season, and verifies that the mills comply with the health and safety standards.
He added that the Jordanian olive oil product, especially in the governorate, is considered one of the best oils, with high quality as it represents a national treasure, emphasizing that no leniency will be shown towards any attempt to adulterate olive oil, where deterrent measures will be taken and violators will be referred to the judiciary to take the necessary legal actions against them.
"Khaberni" explained that the olive sector constitutes a significant economic pillar, providing both seasonal and permanent jobs for many families in Jerash, pointing out that the Ministry of Agriculture is responsible for setting the date for operating the mills, and he called on the mill owners to adhere to the date set by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Director of Agriculture in Jerash, Dr. Ola Mahasneh, appreciated the efforts made by the governorate and all relevant entities to ensure the provision of high-quality olive products to consumers, indicating that the directorate conducts educational and advisory roles to ensure safe and correct harvesting of olives.
