Egypt We Discuss with Hamas Regarding Trumps Plan

Khaberni - Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Aaty, said on Thursday that discussions are ongoing with the Hamas movement to understand their reaction to the plan of the American President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza, but very cautiously, at the same time indicating that there are attempts to persuade Hamas to respond positively to the plan.

Abdel Aaty, at the French Institute for International Relations, pointed out that Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza has many gaps that need to be addressed.

He mentioned that Egypt is working with Qatar and Turkey to convince the Hamas movement to accept the plan to end the war in Gaza, saying, "We meet with them. We coordinate with our brothers in Qatar and also with our colleagues in Turkey in order to... convince Hamas to respond positively to this plan."

He added, that if there is political will, he believes this particular plan for Gaza can be implemented on the ground, but it requires participation.

Abdel Aaty indicated that Trump's plan regarding Gaza needs more discussions on how to implement it, particularly concerning governance and security arrangements, noting that Egypt "supports Trump’s plan and his vision to end the war in Gaza".

Trump had published on Monday, September 29, 2025, a 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza, which still requires the approval of the concerned parties and specifically stipulates his chairmanship of a committee overseeing the transition phase in the sector.

The international reactions to Trump's plan to end the war on Gaza have been ongoing, which still requires the approval of the concerned parties and specifically stipulates his chairmanship of a committee overseeing the transition phase in the sector.

A source close to Hamas mentioned that the movement is seeking to amend some clauses of the American president's peace plan in Gaza, including the clause about disarmament and the departure of its fighters from the sector.
