Khaberni - The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security in the United Arab Emirates announced new amendments to the regulations for issuing a "Visa for Visiting a Relative or Friend". The new decision linked the minimum monthly income required for the hosting resident (sponsor) to the degree of relationship with the visitor, in a move aimed at regulating the hosting process and ensuring financial capacity to support the visitor during their stay in the country.
The Authority clarified in its new decision the different income brackets required from the guarantor/host, which are determined as follows:
First-degree relative: If the visitor is a first-degree relative of the resident, the host's monthly income must not be less than 4,000 dirhams (approximately 770 Jordanian dinars).
Second or third-degree relative: If the visitor is a second or third-degree relative of the resident, the host's monthly income must not be less than 8,000 dirhams (approximately 1,545 Jordanian dinars).
Friend: In the case of hosting a friend, the decision requires that the host's monthly income must not be less than 15,000 dirhams (approximately 2,900 Jordanian dinars).
Governance of Procedures and Enhancing Transparency
The decision also mentions an annex that specifies the durations of visa validity, the possibilities of extending them, and the allowed duration of stay, aimed at governing procedures and standardizing them. The Authority confirmed that these amendments are part of their efforts to enhance transparency and integrity, and to enable clients to achieve their goals of obtaining the visa, while considering the importance of each type of visa for the country and visitors alike.
