Khaberni - A video captured tragic moments of a Turkish man hearing the sound of the elevator crashing to the ground with his wife inside, while he was attempting to seek help to fix a sudden fault that ended with her death.
The incident occurred on the evening of last Tuesday inside a residential building with 11 floors in Mersin, southern Turkey, claiming the life of the young woman Bilin Yashoot Kega.
The victim was trying to descend from her apartment on the seventh floor when the elevator suddenly malfunctioned and stopped at the second floor. At that moment, her husband Gokhan rushed to the first floor and called emergency services, but he suddenly heard the noise of the elevator falling to the bottom of the building.
Gokhan tried to rescue his wife before the arrival of the rescue teams, resulting in a foot injury, but his attempts were unsuccessful. The circulated video clip has garnered widespread sympathy on social media, especially since the husband lost his wife and is the father to their only child.
Furthermore, the police have announced an investigation into the incident and have so far detained three people, after receiving previous complaints from the building's residents about frequent malfunctions in the elevator and interference by a maintenance company to repair it.
