Khaberni - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs continues to monitor the conditions of Jordanians aboard the global Steadfastness Fleet bound for the Gaza Strip, which was intercepted by Israel in international waters.
The Ministry affirmed that it holds Israel responsible for their safety, and warns against exposing them to any harm.
The Ministry's spokesman, Fouad Al-Majali, confirmed that the ministry, through the Operations Directorate and the Consular Affairs, is in direct contact with some Jordanian citizens to check on their conditions, and is taking all necessary measures and communications to ensure their safety, respect their rights, and secure their return to Jordan.
Al-Majali also stated that the ministry will provide any possible and necessary support to evacuate nationals of brotherly and friendly countries that request it from the ministry.
Al-Majali confirmed the condemnation of the attack on the fleet; a blatant violation of international law, a threat to the freedom of navigation, and endangering the lives of civilians.
Al-Majali emphasized the need for the international community to bear its legal and ethical responsibilities, to compel Israel to respect their commitments under international law and international humanitarian law, and to lift all restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza to face the extraordinary disaster caused by the Israeli aggression on the sector.
