AlKharabsheh We are addressing the electrical challenges that emerged during the last heatwave

Khaberni - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh confirmed that enhancing the readiness of the electrical system to handle high loads is a priority for the government, stating that efforts are focused on developing the network and increasing its efficiency to ensure stable service for citizens during peak summer periods and winter.

Al-Kharabsheh emphasized during a field tour in Irbid governorate that efforts are currently focused on addressing the challenges that emerged during the latest heatwave, to ensure the continuity of service and improvement of the performance level provided to citizens.

Al-Kharabsheh explained that the recent challenges included higher loads on some of the main and subsidiary transformation stations belonging to distribution companies, leading to limited malfunctions and scheduled blackouts, confirming that work is ongoing on necessary maintenance and expansion to enhance the efficiency of the system.

He stated that the Irbid Electricity Company, in cooperation with relevant parties, is currently implementing a number of new subsidiary stations expected to be completed before the summer of next year, which will positively reflect on the level of service and accommodate the increasing demand for electricity in various areas of the governorate.

Al-Kharabsheh indicated that the challenges in the electricity sector are not only linked to the winter season but emerge during the summer due to high loads resulting from air conditioning units, pointing out that the peak demand has become summer evenings with the absence of solar energy and reduced efficiency of generation units.

On his part, Bashar Al-Tamimi, General Manager of Irbid Electricity Company, affirmed that the tour comes within the framework of monitoring the company's readiness to meet the demand during the upcoming winter, and continuing its plans for developing and expanding the electrical network to ensure a safe and reliable service for subscribers in the northern region.

Al-Tamimi added that the tour included a visit to the new Princess Basma Hospital to review the level of electrical supply allocated to it, in addition to visiting the control and monitoring center belonging to the company, where future plans were presented, especially after signing an agreement with the Irbid Municipality to create new subsidiary transformation stations serving the residential and commercial sectors within the governorate.
