Khaberni - Citizens complained about the rising prices of vegetables and fruits in the Jordanian local market, especially cucumbers and tomatoes.
The price of one kilogram of tomatoes exceeded 70 piasters (about one US dollar), while the price of cucumbers ranged between 80 piasters and one dinar (1.1 – 1.4 US dollars).
Prices of other products such as onions, potatoes, eggplants, and green peppers have also risen.
Official bulletins issued by the central market indicate relatively lower prices compared to those offered in commercial markets, with the following minimum and maximum limits for each item:
• Eggplant (Ajami black): between 10 and 20 piasters.
• Dried onions: between 20 and 30 piasters.
• Potatoes: between 20 and 35 piasters.
• Tomatoes: between 10 and 35 piasters.
• Carrots: between 40 and 60 piasters.
• Cucumbers: between 30 and 50 piasters.
• Cauliflower: between 25 and 65 piasters.
• Lemons: between 70 and 150 piasters.
• Local bananas: between 60 and 90 piasters.
