The French network Foot Mercato reported that Barcelona completed the agreement with de Jong in record time thanks to the good relationship with the player's new agent, Sebastian Lieder, and the Dutch player agreed to the terms of the new contract and Barcelona's CEO Manel del Rio has already signed the necessary documents to finalize the deal.
Moreover, the Catalan newspaper "Sport" reported that only the signatures of Joan Laporta, the president of the club, his deputy Rafa Yuste, and several board members are left to officially seal the new contract in the next few days.
It was added that de Jong signing a new contract will end a long-standing backstage controversy with a player who is a fundamental pillar in the squad and is highly esteemed by Hansi Flick, the team's technical director.
