Khaberni - At least 26 people were killed on Wednesday in a boat capsizing in the Niger River, central southern Nigeria, according to local authorities.
Kogi State spokesperson, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, stated in a message on the "X" platform that available information indicates that this tragic incident claimed the lives of at least 26 passengers.
He added that the boat was carrying traders heading from Ibaji area (Kogi) to a market in Eruwa in Edo state on the other side of the river, before it capsized.
