Khaberni - Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, said that Rodri, the team's midfielder, is not ready to play three matches weekly as he continues to work on regaining full physical fitness, ahead of their Champions League clash with Monaco.
Rodri, the former Ballon d'Or winner, returned to competition last May after an eight-month absence due to a tear in his anterior cruciate ligament but suffered a thigh injury during the Club World Cup in July.
The Spanish midfielder has started only four matches this season and was left out of the squad in the 5-1 victory over Burnley last Saturday.
Guardiola told reporters on Tuesday: "On the day before the Burnley match, he was not feeling well. Today he feels much better, so we will see. It's different from the Club World Cup - now he is not injured. Currently, in my opinion, if you ask me, he is not capable of playing three matches a week at the highest level. My feeling now is that he is not ready. Because he needs time. This kind of injury takes at least a year to fully recover."
Bernardo Silva will return to a familiar place on Wednesday, in Monaco, where he won the French league title in 2017. The Portuguese midfielder was chosen to wear the captain's armband for City at the start of the new season, and Guardiola was pleased with his impact on the team.
Guardiola said: "He is a leader in every sense of the word. He is one of the best players in the training, he is an exceptional player, very intelligent. He is good playing in more than one position. We are really happy to have him with us."
