American Kills His Wife for Her Failure to Lose Weight

Khaberni - An American man killed his British wife in a horrific crime in Los Angeles, following a dispute that arose due to his repeated complaints about her failure to lose weight after pregnancy and childbirth, according to local authorities.

The details of the incident trace back to Ms. Joan Banion (37 years old), originally from the Isle of Arran in Britain, who had moved to the United States to fulfill her dream of becoming a lawyer. She had established an immigration law office last year before she was killed inside her home in Los Angeles on September 11, suffering severe neck injuries.

On its part, the American police announced that they had arrested her husband, Jonathan Anthony Renteria (25 years old), who faces charges including murder and violating California's health and safety laws, described as "mutilation and dismemberment of the body". His bail was set at 4 million dollars.

According to local reports, the accused confessed during the investigation that he strangled his wife following an argument over his continuous criticism of her failure to lose weight after pregnancy, which led her to start packing her bags, threatening not to allow him to see their daughter again.

The investigations added that the husband left the house after the incident with his young daughter and was later seen carrying garbage bags believed to be related to the crime.

The neighbors mentioned that the victim lived in a difficult relationship characterized by verbal abuse and control. Ariel Miller, a neighbor, said the husband "was constantly criticizing her appearance and weight, and prevented her from communicating with some people".

In Britain, Banion's family appealed for help to return her body to her homeland for burial.

Her close friend Vicky Tolika started a fundraising campaign on "GoFundMe" titled "Help Bring Joan Banion Back to Her Homeland", which has so far raised more than 7,000 British pounds to cover the costs of transferring the body and funeral expenses.

Tolika wrote: "Joan was known for her cheerful personality, distinctive laughter, and compassionate heart. Despite her many achievements, her greatest pride was in obtaining her law degree. She moved to America courageously to take the bar exam and build a better future for herself, but her life ended far from her homeland." Agencies
