Jordanian Industry Achieves Highest Growth Rates in Two Decades

Khaberni - The Jordan Chamber of Industry confirmed that the industrial sector achieved a real growth of 4.8% during the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, thereby strengthening its position as one of the primary drivers of economic growth in the kingdom, contributing 39% to the total economic growth achieved during the same period, according to data from the Department of Statistics.

Fathi Jaghbeer, chair of both the Amman and Jordan Chambers of Industry, pointed out that the Jordanian industry is once again proving to be the national growth locomotive and its main driver, having continued to record high growth rates for the second consecutive quarter, which confirms the strength of this sector and its ability to transform challenges into opportunities, and to continue achieving positive results despite regional and global fluctuations.

Jaghbeer emphasized that this accelerated performance enhances positive expectations by the end of the current year, with the possibility of achieving unprecedented and historical results, noting the necessity of removing various obstacles, especially procedural ones, to stimulate growth and sustain these positive indicators.

The chamber indicated that the manufacturing industries maintained their historic performance, registering a growth of 5% during the second quarter, the highest in over twenty years, contributing about 0.89 percentage points to the total growth achieved. Meanwhile, the extractive and mining industries grew by 3.8% after having declined in the first quarter of the year, contributing 0.10 percentage points to the growth, reflecting a strong return of this vital sector to the growth path thanks to improved external demand and stabilized supply chains. The electricity and water sector also continued its positive performance achieving a growth of 4.9%, contributing 0.09 percentage points, reflecting the expansion of the industrial activity base in various areas.

The chamber clarified that it is currently working on developing a comprehensive support system for industrial exports, including the expansion of air shipping, developing a tracking system for the food industries, and launching modern digital tools to enhance the presence of Jordanian products in foreign markets, in addition to monitoring procedural and regulatory challenges facing Jordanian factories through a specialized monthly report that detects major obstacles and the level of progress in addressing them in cooperation with relevant government entities.

The chamber concluded by affirming that the achievements during the first half of the current year represent a pivotal phase in the path of the Jordanian industry, which succeeded in achieving the highest growth rates in two decades and restoring the declining sectors to their health, confirming that the industrial sector is steadily progressing to be the main driver of economic growth and achieving sustainable development in Jordan.
