Khaberni - Minister of Transport Dr. Nidal Al-Qatamin participated in the International Railway Conference "Global Rail 2025," which was hosted by the capital, Abu Dhabi, with the participation of ministers, officials, and experts from various countries.
Al-Qatamin also took part in the ministerial session titled "Seamless Borders: Transport as a Catalyst for Regional Integration," which saw an extensive discussion on ways to enhance regional connectivity through the development of transportation and railway networks, and the role these projects can play in supporting economic integration between Arab countries and facilitating the movement of individuals and goods.
During the session, Al-Qatamin emphasized the importance of developing an integrated transportation infrastructure, noting that modern railway projects are a cornerstone for boosting inter-regional trade, stimulating investments, and easing the movement of individuals and goods as well as connecting the region to global markets. He also stressed the importance of building effective regional and international partnerships to develop the transport sector and enhance its role in supporting economic growth, confirming that transport project development is a fundamental tool for achieving regional economic integration.
The Ministry of Transport and the Jordanian Hejaz Railway Corporation participated through a special pavilion at the accompanying exhibition of the conference, where this pavilion included a display of future railway projects in Jordan, in addition to highlighting the historical role of the Jordanian Hejaz railway by shedding light on its journey through past periods as one of the most prominent heritage and economic landmarks in the transport sector, while the pavilion witnessed visits from participating delegations including the CEO of Etihad Rail, who listened to explanations about the most prominent exhibits.
On the sidelines of the conference, Al-Qatamin held bilateral meetings that included the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and the Bahraini Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, during which they discussed prospects for cooperation in various transport fields.
The conference aims to enhance regional and international dialogue on the future of railways and their role in economic and social development, showcasing leading experiences in smart and sustainable transportation, and exchanging expertise in the fields of management, financing, and operations. Jordan's participation in this international forum reaffirms its commitment to working with regional and international partners to develop transportation infrastructure and support interconnection initiatives, thereby enhancing trade, investment, and sustainable development in the region.
It is noted that the "Global Rail" conference is held periodically and gathers decision-makers in transportation and logistics from most countries of the world, showcasing the latest innovations in the railway sector, and aims to enhance integration between modes of transport and open prospects for international cooperation in infrastructure and smart and sustainable transport.
