Spicy spices reduce your meal size Study reveals

Khaberni - An American study found that adding a touch of spicy spices to the diet is considered an effective way to reduce the amount of food a person consumes and thus the amount of calories they get.

According to the study conducted by a research team from the University of Pennsylvania in America, researchers found that chili peppers and similar spices affect the amount of food an individual consumes in each meal.

The study, published in the scientific journal Food Quality and Preference, which specializes in food sciences, confirmed that seasoned meals make a person reduce the amount of food they eat and the calories they receive.

The researcher Paige Cunningham, the head of the study team, stated, "We know that when a person eats slowly, they eat less food", adding in statements to the "Scitech Daily" website, specialized in scientific research: "We believe that spicy meals make a person eat slowly and we have conducted a scientific experiment to verify this hypothesis."

The experiment included offering meals seasoned with different degrees of chili pepper to a group of volunteers while measuring the amount of food each volunteer consumes while maintaining the general taste of the meal, where it was shown from the experiment that increasing the amount of spicy spices affects the speed of meal consumption and reduces the amount of food and calories each volunteer consumes.

Cunningham explained that the participants in the experiment were consuming spicy food at a slower pace, meaning they were keeping the food in their mouths for a longer period which helps give a feeling of fullness and satiety, making them eat less food.

Also, researcher John Hayes, a professor of nutritional sciences and one of the participants in the study, confirmed that these results "suggest the possibility of using hot peppers as a strategy to reduce the problem of overeating".
