Khaberni - In a medical achievement recorded for the first time in Jordan, a precise operation was conducted at Al-Hussein Hospital "Al-Salt Al-Jadid" to treat a congenital blockage in the tear duct of a 19-year-old patient, who was suffering from continuous tearing that significantly affected her daily life.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Asma Musleh, a consultant in eyelid, orbital, and tear duct reconstruction and cosmetics, in cooperation with the anesthesia team and the nursing staff in the Day Surgery Unit.

During the procedure, the path of the tear duct was rerouted and a delicate mesh was implanted through the nose, without the need for an external incision or the use of an endoscope, in a precedent considered the first of its kind in Jordan.

Dr. Musleh explained that this advanced technique is a safe and effective alternative to traditional surgery, which usually requires an external incision between the eye and the nose, may leave a noticeable scar on the face, and requires a longer recovery period, especially for younger patients.

The Hospital Director, Dr. Rami Abu Roman, confirmed that this procedure was distinguished

by preserving the aesthetic appearance of the face without any external marks and enabling the patient to return to her normal life within a remarkably short time.

Additionally, Hospital Director Dr. Rami Abu Roman noted that this achievement reflects the development of the eye department in the hospital, enhancing its stature as a specialized medical center offering quality services in eye surgery, indicating that the hospital continues to support medical skills and modern technologies in alignment with the Ministry of Health's vision to improve the quality of healthcare provided.
