Asian Football Confederation considers the Indian team withdrawn from AlHussein Irbid group

Khaberni - The Asian Football Confederation announced that Mohun Bagan Super Giant of India is considered withdrawn from the AFC Champions League 2 competition, after failing to arrive in Isfahan, Iran, to play their match in Group C against Sepahan Isfahan of Iran tonight.

Mohun Bagan is in the same group that includes Al-Hussein Irbid, noting that the representative of Jordanian football will play its second match today against Ahal of Turkmenistan, following its victory in the first round over Sepahan with a clean goal.

Consequently, the previous match played by Mohun Bagan Super Giant is cancelled and considered void according to Article 5.6 of the tournament regulations.

The Asian Football Confederation confirmed that to avoid any confusion, any points or goals from the club's previous match will not be considered when determining the final standings of Group C, based on the regulations of the tournament.

In turn, the Indian club cited "player safety" and "unknown risks" as the reason behind not traveling to Iran three days before the scheduled match date.

Mohun Bagan was scheduled to play against Al-Hussein on the 21st of next month.

It should be noted that this is the second withdrawal by the Indian club, as the same issue occurred last season in the same tournament, when they did not attend in Iran to face Tractor Club in the group stage.
