Khaberni - The Saudi Minister of Information, Salman Al-Dosari, revealed to "Al Arabiya" that the percentage of negative or inferior content only represents 1% of the total media content published on various platforms, while the vast majority of content is positive, enhancing awareness, disseminating knowledge and Saudi cultural values in multiple languages.
During the government press conference today, Al-Dosari stated that the current regulations issued by the General Authority for Media Regulation concerning inferior content set clear limits for content creators, also preventing them from committing media violations.
Recently, videos from some social media influencers that contained a series of media violations have emerged, prompting the Media Regulation Authority to implement a set of rules to limit such violations. These regulations prohibit the publication of content that includes vulgar language, or any boasting of money, cars, personal possessions, or even tribal lineage, and everything that may provoke name-calling, racism, or sectarianism, as well as portraying a negative image of the national and social values.
In the same context, the minister mentioned that the authority held a workshop with content creators to explain these regulations, stating that addressing violating content requires firmness and community awareness, through not interacting with the published content. The Minister of Information said, "The best punishment for the creators of inferior content is manifested in being ignored, which is enforced by the community by completely refusing to follow them," and he continued, emphasizing: "This type of content dwindles and disappears with complete disregard." The minister also emphasized that "maintaining values and community identity represents a genuine national starting point and a steadfast principle," noting that the Saudi people are naturally "a people of values and identity."
