Khaberni - A team of scientists at Nanning University in China conducted a comprehensive study on the relationship between tea consumption and heart health, involving nearly one million people from different countries.
It was found that drinking ten cups of unsweetened black tea daily, which is about 1.2 liters, is associated with a 16% lower risk of heart disease compared to those who do not drink tea at all. However, drinking just two cups had a much lower impact, reducing risk by about 5%.
The study was based on a comprehensive analysis of the results of 14 previous studies, which included data from 958,477 people, 16,990 of whom suffered from heart disease.

The team of cardiologists at Nanning University explained that the results support recommendations that encourage drinking black tea as part of a healthy lifestyle, and they said, "Our study shows that black tea consumption is associated with a lower risk of heart disease, which reinforces its role in prevention."

While green tea has been associated in many studies with health benefits due to its richness in antioxidants and low caffeine content, these results confirm that black tea also possesses properties that may contribute to heart protection. However, scientists are still unsure of the exact mechanism by which tea acts as a preventive agent against heart diseases.

The results were published in the Journal of Nutrition, Metabolism, and Cardiovascular Diseases.
