Khaberni - A coroner's court hearing on Monday revealed the suicide of Matt Bird, former coach of the women's Liverpool and Chelsea football teams.

Bird was found hanged in his home in North Wales, and coroner John Griffiths stated that paramedics were called to Bird’s house in Deeside, Flintshire, before he was taken to a hospital in Chester where he died on September 20th at the age of 47.

The BBC reported that the hearing in Ruthin, North Wales was postponed for a full inquiry at a later date.

Bird had led Liverpool to two consecutive Women's Premier League titles in 2013 and 2014, before returning in 2021 to lead the team back to the Premier League after two seasons in the second tier.

The players observed a minute of silence before the start of the Women’s Premier League matches on September 21st.

Bird began his coaching career at Millwall before moving to Chelsea in 2009. He left Liverpool in February of the last year, and his last coaching role was a brief stint at Burnley between June and August of the last year.
