Khaberni - U.S. health authorities have warned about the dangers of certain commonly circulated kitchen utensils in the market, after recent tests showed that they could cause toxic lead to leak into food.

This leads to an increased risk of cancer, autism spectrum disorder, and other severe diseases.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that tests revealed four products made of aluminum in India contain unsafe levels of lead.

These products include three flat-bottomed circular vessels and a vessel specifically for boiling milk, bearing the brand names: "Tiger White," "Silver Horse," and "GK Falabadahs."

These tools were found in stores in New York and Illinois, while the scope of their distribution in other states is not yet known.

The administration has urged consumers to check their kitchens and dispose of any similar products, and it has appealed to merchants and distributors to contact it to verify the safety of their goods.

The agency clarified that some kitchen utensils, especially those made from aluminum or copper or from recycled materials like car parts, might contain lead that leaks into food during cooking. It emphasized that even low levels of this substance pose a significant risk, and there is no safe limit for exposure, especially for children and fetuses who are more susceptible to poisoning.

Research indicates that prolonged exposure to lead is associated with impaired learning ability, autism spectrum disorders, and problems in the nervous system, in addition to diseases of the kidneys and heart, and an increased risk of cancer. Symptoms of poisoning range from difficulty concentrating and decreased intelligence at low levels to stomach pain, vomiting, convulsions, and unconsciousness at high levels.

It is worth mentioning that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has banned the use of lead in all products that come into contact with food.
