Khaberni - Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, threatened coach Xabi Alonso with a new major defeat following the historic crushing 5-0 loss to rival neighbor Atletico Madrid, according to Spanish media.
Under Alonso's leadership, Real Madrid suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat to Atletico on Saturday, during the seventh round of the Spanish League. The last time the team faced such a loss to its neighbor was in 1950.
The site "Defensa Central" reported that Perez has renewed his confidence in Xabi Alonso's capabilities to lead Real Madrid despite the defeat on Saturday, viewing it as a minor stumble that does not derail the team or the coach from the good path they had been on.
The report added: At the same time, despite the confidence he has bestowed upon the coach, he threatened him that if such a defeat recurs in another big match, the situation could change completely.
This was the second major test that the team failed under its Spanish coach, as they lost 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup in America.
Xabi Alonso has been coaching Real Madrid since the beginning of the season, replacing the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, who now manages the Brazil national team.
