Khaberni - The security forces in Qena province, on Monday, ended the saga of a highly dangerous criminal named Saddam Mohammed Al-Naqr, 30 years old, following an armed confrontation with the police within a mountainous area under the jurisdiction of Deshna center.
The Ministry of Interior explained, in an official statement, that the suspect was wanted for several criminal cases including possession of firearms, robbery under threat, assault, and firing bullets.
The security operation followed the suspect's appearance in a video clip on social media, where he was enforcing his control in one of the traditional markets by brandishing his weapon and firing shots to terrorize the locals, which induced widespread anger and calls for immediate action.
The statement added that the security forces managed to locate the suspect's hiding spot in the desert hinterlands of Deshna, where he began firing heavily at the forces during the raid, prompting a response from them. The exchange of gunfire resulted in his immediate death.
Upon searching the hiding place, the forces found an automatic rifle and quantities of narcotics including hashish and shabu. Necessary legal proceedings were taken, amidst broad acclaim from the locals for the security operation that ended a state of terror the area had been experiencing.
