After the spread of an audio recording attributed to her daughter Mariam Amayri on social media, artist Amal Arfa announced via her official Instagram account that she would take legal action, affirming that the law is her choice to put an end to what she described as defamation and blackmail.
Amal clarified that what she is undergoing exceeds just an audio recording, explaining that there is a systematic blackmail targeting her and her family, and she wrote via Instagram Story: "Since the story has been exposed to the public, I have the responsibility to clarify and fully disclose the circumstances of the blackmail that I and my family are subjected to."
She also pointed out the role of artificial intelligence technologies in amplifying the crisis, confirming that her voice is present in many of her drama works, which makes it easy for children or any entity to exploit the technology to assemble sentences she did not say. She added, "Artificial intelligence becomes a curse when in the hands of little kids… My voice exists in all my series, and it's very easy for them to take my voice and create complete sentences from it. This is the last time I will speak about the matter and I will let the law handle it."
In the context of the crisis, Amal announced her withdrawal from the series "The King's Family", and published a conversation revealing an aspect of the abuse she was subjected to, accompanied by a comment: "The people of Idlib are more honorable than you, and they don’t pay money for personal and not-for-public matters."
Amal quickly sent a heartfelt support message to her daughter, writing: "My daughter, in whom I see myself, be strong, my success's enemies might reach my house's door, but my house's door is made of iron, no matter how much they fabricate and invent, they remain little in my mama’s eyes, you are my strength and I want your confidence in yourself to be sky-high."
The message came in response to the criticisms that targeted the leaked recording, which showed a fierce verbal altercation between Mariam and one of the family parties, causing a wide wave of controversy on social media platforms.
