Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, accompanied by His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince, monitored the field exercise (Sky Shield), which was implemented by units of the Royal Field Air Defense Directorate in one of the training areas, on Monday.

His Majesty attended, along with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lieutenant General Yousef Ahmad Al-Huneiti, a briefing presented by the Director of Air Defense, Brigadier General Suleiman Al-Hamaydeh, regarding the readiness of the directorate's units.

The briefing discussed plans to develop the work of air defense units, including the introduction of missile systems, advanced systems to deal with drones, and medium-range warning radars.

The exercise included a simulation of a defensive battle, dealing with various aerial targets, and intercepting drones, with the participation of command, control, and early warning units.

The exercise aimed to test the readiness of the Royal Field Air Defense units and their efficiency in planning and execution under various operational conditions, as part of efforts to keep pace with the technological evolution in modern warfare methods.

His Majesty King Abdullah also visited an exhibition of weapons and modern equipment used in air defense.

His Majesty commended the efficiency of the units participating in the exercise, emphasizing the importance of continuing modernization and development to enhance readiness.

Since the beginning of the year 2024, the Royal Field Air Defense units have dealt with more than 1580 drones, within joint tasks with the Border Guard forces.
