Khaberni - The Public Institution for Food and Drug, in cooperation with the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection, seized 30 tins of counterfeit olive oil in Karak, after they were promoted through an online advertisement on one of the social media pages.
According to a press statement issued by the institution, the seizure was based on monitoring an advertisement for olive oil offered at a low price on a social media page, prompting the institution's personnel in the Karak branch to initiate tracking and investigation operations. They ordered the product and received it acting as a consumer without revealing their official capacity, and subjected it to a preliminary test with "Nitric Acid," which revealed the counterfeiting.
The institution noted that it has taken custody of the entire quantity in preparation for its destruction according to regulations, and has initiated legal proceedings against the parties involved, emphasizing that it continues to carry out intensive monitoring and inspection campaigns and take the necessary action against offenders.
