Khaberni - Syrian actress Amal Arfa announced the initiation of her first legal action after an audio recording attributed to her daughter, Mariam Amayri, spread on social networks, considering that what happened crossed the boundaries of privacy into extortion and defamation.
Amal Arfa confirmed through an "Instagram Story" that she has opted to take legal action to put an end to what she described as illegal practices affecting her family.
Amal clarified that the audio recording was only part of a systematic extortion campaign, pointing out her responsibility to clarify the facts to the public.
She wrote on her Instagram Story: "As long as the story has been aired publicly, it is my responsibility to reveal the full circumstances of the extortion my family and I are experiencing."
The actress also shared a conversation involving her daughter that reveals some of the abuses directed at her, adding a comment that reflects her astonishment at the actions of some individuals from Idlib by words, not deeds.
Amal Arfa also highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in amplifying the crisis, pointing to the possibility of exploiting her voice from her drama works to construct phrases she did not utter, and mentioned, "When artificial intelligence falls into the hands of the unscrupulous, it's a curse… My voice is present in all my series, and many can obtain my voice print and fabricate complete sentences from it. This is the last time I will speak on this matter and will leave the handling of it to the courts."
For her part, Mariam Amayri, daughter of Amal Arfa, shared on her "Instagram Story," a series of conversations that revealed a deeper side of the dispute with her aunt's family, where she described in one of them the other party as "trading on her aunt's reputation," stating that she paid an amount of 15,000 US dollars to a page to leak a fabricated audio recording that harms the reputation of the Syrian actress.
She also reshared Amal Arfa's announcement about another page publishing another recording, which will reveal another side of the dispute, as Amal was seeking reconciliation with her nieces, promising to reveal the details at 8 PM Damascus time.
These statements were made amid a wide wave of controversy on social platforms, after the recording showed a sharp argument between Mariam and one of the family parties, which provoked mixed reactions among followers, surpassing the family scope to public opinion.
