Khaberni - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced the start of work on the maintenance and improvement project of the desert road, in the section stretching from the Al-Humaimah area to Al-Quweira, covering 25 kilometers in total (12.5 km each way), as part of its ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the most vital roads in the Kingdom.
The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abu Al-Samn, stated that the new project is a continuation of a series of maintenance and improvement projects that the ministry has implemented on the desert road, which is a vital artery linking the capital, Amman, and all governorates with the Aqaba port, servicing the economic sectors, including primarily the commercial and tourism sectors.
Abu Al-Samn emphasized that the ministry prioritizes the maintenance of the desert road to ensure its durability and to enhance road safety level, noting that the work includes removing and scraping the existing asphalt layer, laying down a new asphalt mixture, as well as executing road painting in white and yellow, and installing ground reflectors.
The project costs about 3 million Jordanian Dinars, and is expected to be completed within a period of 180 days.
