King Abdullah II met today, Sunday, with former prime ministers at Al Husseiniya Palace, discussing the developments in the region and the results of his visit to New York last week to participate in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, describing them as successful.
The meeting included former prime ministers: Ahmad Obeidat, Abdul Karim Kabariti, Dr. Abdul Ra’ouf al-Rawabdeh, Engineer Ali Abu Ragheb, Faisal al-Fayez, Dr. Adnan Badran, Engineer Nader al-Dahabi, Awn Khasawneh, Dr. Abdullah al-Nsour, Dr. Hani Mulki, and Dr. Bisher al-Khasawneh.
The prominent absentees from the meeting were: Samir Rifai, Omar Razzaz, and Taher al-Masri.
Khaberni learned that Dr. Omar Razzaz is currently abroad participating in an international conference and is expected to return next week.
The reasons for the absence of both al-Masri and al-Rifai are still unknown.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, Youssef Hassan al-Issawi, the King's Office Director, Alaa Batayneh, and the Director of General Intelligence, Major General Ahmad Husni.
The meeting addressed overall developments in the region, including the situations in Syria and Lebanon, and Jordan's keenness to support their efforts in maintaining their sovereignty and stability.
The King mentioned that Jordan is coordinating with Arab brothers and partners on details of the comprehensive plan for Gaza, which was presented by President Donald Trump to Arab and Muslim leaders, confirming that there was significant consensus on the plan.
The King also highlighted the significant convergence with Arab and Muslim leaders and the alignment of views with friendly countries regarding regional developments, particularly the Palestinian issue and the situation in Gaza, pointing to international consensus around the two-state solution as the only way to achieve peace in the region.
The meeting also touched upon the Israeli aggression on Qatar, where the King confirmed that this aggression carries a clear message, the intent of which is to terrorize the region by force, noting that the aggression has damaged Israel’s relations with regional countries.
He affirmed that Jordan is fully prepared, as always, to protect its sovereignty and security.
The King also mentioned Jordan's progress on the three modernization pathways, despite the regional difficulties, emphasizing the importance of completing economic projects under implementation.
