Khaberni -The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has announced a new partnership with "Careem", the leading multi-service app in the Middle East, to launch a donation campaign through the Careem app in the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. This initiative aims to enable Careem users to directly support the WFP's efforts to deliver emergency food aid in Gaza and the West Bank directly from through the app.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) continues to deliver food aid in Gaza despite security deterioration, access difficulties, and the increasing suffering of the population. Recent estimates indicate that about a third of the population there spends many days without food or drink, increasing the risk of famine. Since May 21, the program has sent dozens of relief convoys to Gaza, loaded with more than 1,200 trucks carrying a total of 18,247 metric tons of food supplies.

Through the donation platform available inside the Careem app, "Right Click", app users can contribute directly, with donations used to provide wheat flour, meals, and nutritional supplements to communities in Gaza and the West Bank, which the program aims to reach more than 1.5 million people this year.

In this context, Stephen Anderson, the director of the WFP office in the United Arab Emirates and representative in the Gulf Cooperation Council said: "We welcome this important partnership with 'Careem', which allows residents of Jordan and the UAE an opportunity to provide direct support to affected families in Gaza through our shared platforms. These effective contributions will help save lives in one of the toughest humanitarian situations to date."

On his part, Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and co-founder of Careem, commented: "At Careem, we believe in the importance of leveraging our platform to empower communities and respond instantly in times of need. The current situation in Gaza represents an emergency humanitarian case that requires immediate intervention, and through our partnership with the World Food Programme, we enable our customers in Jordan and the UAE to make a direct impact. Through just a few clicks within the app, users can contribute to providing food aid to families facing unimaginable suffering."

Food aid has become the only viable option for the majority in Gaza, as flour prices have risen to levels more than 3,000 times higher than before the war, and finding cooking fuel is nearly impossible. The World Food Programme has prepared more than 116,000 metric tons of food aid close to Gaza, an amount sufficient to feed the entire population of Gaza for two months.

In 2025 alone, Careem facilitated donations exceeding $200,000 for various causes, including emergency relief and educational support, demonstrating the continued commitment of Careem's customers to make a positive impact through the app.

The campaign is currently available through the "Right Click" donation platform inside the "Careem" app in both Jordan and the UAE. Users can download the latest version of the Careem app on iOS or Android devices to donate and contribute to making a real difference.
