Khaberni -The Cabinet decided to appoint Dr. Rana Mohammed Khaled Obeidat as the General Director of the Food and Drug Corporation, and to retire the former General Director, Dr. Nizar Muhaidat.
With this decision, Dr. Obeidat joins the list of female leadership in the quality control institutions in Jordan, alongside Abeir Barakat Al-Zuhair, who was appointed in 2019 as the General Director of the Standards and Metrology Organization.
Dr. Rana Obeidat is a distinguished academic figure in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical technology, currently holding the position of Director of the Office of Pharmacy Research and Research at the Jordan University Hospital, in addition to her role as a professor at the University of Jordan. She has previously held academic positions at the Jordan University of Science and Technology and was a visiting lecturer at the University of Toronto. She has a research record that includes more than 50 scientific research papers and 1,200 academic citations.
The appointment of Obeidat signifies the enhancement of the role of women in leadership positions, particularly in critical regulatory institutions linked to the health and safety of citizens.
