Metas Superintelligence Team Half Chinese and 40 Former OpenAI Employees

Khaberni -Mark Zuckerberg's latest big bet as CEO of Meta involves assembling a team of top artificial intelligence experts in the market to lead what is called "superintelligence labs."

This team aims to develop artificial intelligence models that eventually lead to "general artificial intelligence," which means an AI model with capabilities that match or even exceed the capabilities of the human mind.

Achieving cognitive capabilities at the level of the human mind through an artificial intelligence model requires massive investments, in addition to hiring the best talent to build such a system. For this reason, "Meta" spends hundreds of millions of dollars on AI researchers from companies like "OpenAI" and "Apple" to recruit them into the superintelligence team.

A leaked spreadsheet shared on platform X revealed some unique information about Meta's superintelligence team and their backgrounds, according to a report by the technology news website "Neowin," which was reviewed by "Arabiya Business."

The leaker claims that this information was taken from an anonymous employee working at "Meta."

According to this data, 50% of the employees in the superintelligence team are from China, highlighting the significant role of Chinese researchers or those of Chinese descent in Meta's artificial intelligence efforts.

In addition, 75% of these employees hold PhD degrees, and 70% of them work as researchers.

Interestingly, 40% of the members of this team are former employees of "OpenAI," who were recruited by Zuckerberg from the company that developed the famous chatbot "ChatGPT."

In addition, 20% of the superintelligence team members come from "Google DeepMind," a Google subsidiary, and another 15% from "Scale AI," a startup in which Meta recently announced an investment of $14.8 billion.

Another notable fact is that 75% of the superintelligence team are first-generation immigrants.

The leaker claims that each of these employees now earns between $10 million and $100 million annually.

While “Meta” has not disclosed the salaries of the superintelligence team, previous reports indicated that "Meta" indeed offers up to $100 million in bonuses to attract the best talents in artificial intelligence from "OpenAI" and other competitors.
