Khaberni -The Kuwaiti Court of Cassation upheld the rulings of the «Appeal» and «Criminal» Courts, sentencing the former MP Majed Musaed Al-Mutairi to two years in prison with labor and immediate effect, in a case of electoral vote-buying in the fifth district during the 2023 National Assembly elections.
The court also sentenced other accused individuals to two years in prison with labor and immediate effect, and a fourth defendant to four years in prison with labor and immediate effect, in addition to imposing a fine of 2000 Kuwaiti Dinars.
The Public Prosecutor had referred the defendants to trial after attributing to the former MP Majed Musaed Al-Mutairi that he had covertly agreed with intermediaries to buy voter votes, and had handed over a sum of money to one of the defendants to buy votes for his benefit.
