Khaberni -The Tourism and Heritage Committee in the Senate, chaired by Senator Michel Nazal, during its meeting on Sunday with the Director of the Tourism Police Administration, Brigadier Emad Shouman, and his accompanying delegation from the administration's staff, reviewed the plans and duties of the Tourism Police Administration and its role in enhancing tourism security.

Senator Nazal valued, during the meeting which took place at the council house, the pivotal and important role of the administration in enhancing tourism security, and its positive impact on the tourism sector, indicating that the meeting was held to examine the tasks of the administration and the main challenges it faces during its duty performance and the implementation of the set plans.

In turn, Brigadier Shouman reviewed the reality of the Tourism Police's operations in all the provinces of the kingdom, highlighting the administration's main tasks related to protecting tourist sites and tourists, security escorting, and participating in other missions such as monitoring and inspection in cooperation with related institutions, to maintain a tourism system free of remarks.

He pointed out that the security services in the tourism sector, provided by the administration, are aimed at achieving tourism security within a security strategy that largely relies on law enforcement.

Brigadier Shouman explained that the plans and programs set by the administration to secure the tourism sector within the public security system come as a response to any obstacles or challenges faced by tourists and those working in the tourism sector efficiently and effectively.

He said that the administration works on enforcing laws to achieve tourism security, and protect tourists and archaeological sites, and tourist facilities, according to a collaborative approach. The duties assigned to the administration and the response procedures with tourist establishments are conducted within unified frames and procedures, indicating that the administration performs its work in cooperation and ongoing partnership with institutions related to the tourism sector.

The senators valued the important role and positive impact of the Tourism Police Administration in enhancing tourism security, commending the development of the administration's work through the use of modern means to protect the sites and secure tourists at those sites.

They recommended working on unifying the reference for accrediting tourism statistics in the sector, in coordination with partners, and developing and managing and protecting tourist sites, and enhancing the role of the Tourism Police in preserving the security and safety of archaeological and tourist sites.

They emphasized the importance of supporting the Tourism Police, providing it with all the necessary supplies to succeed in its work, and training and equipping the Tourism Police cadre, and providing it with the necessary competencies to support the administration's work, affirming the need to enhance the administration's cadre to ensure smooth tourist movement to archaeological sites across the kingdom, easily and smoothly.
