Khaberni -The Israeli occupation authorities in occupied Jerusalem forced three Jerusalemites to vacate their homes in occupied Jerusalem, in preparation for self-demolition; this was to avoid paying high costs to the Israeli occupation municipality if its machinery were to demolish those homes.
Jerusalem sources reported that the citizens Ayoub and Mohammed Al-Qunbar were forced to empty their home in the town of Jabal Mukaber, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, in preparation for demolition, after receiving a final demolition order from the occupation authorities.
The sources also mentioned that the citizen Musa Badran had begun emptying his house located in the Bustan neighborhood in Silwan, earlier on Sunday, after receiving a final demolition order from the occupation authorities giving him 21 days to execute it.
Badran built his home in 2017; it measures 70 square meters and is inhabited by several family members threatened with displacement, according to the Jerusalem governorate.
The occupation forces Palestinians in the city of Jerusalem to self-demolish their homes under the pretext of lack of permits, and those who refuse this measure have their homes demolished by occupation bulldozers, imposing heavy costs on the owner.
The occupation municipality in Jerusalem refrains from granting Palestinian citizens building permits, and demolishes or forces them to demolish their homes, in a measure that contradicts international laws and humanitarian statutes that guarantee the right to housing.
It is noted that the number of homes and facilities destroyed by the occupation authorities in occupied Jerusalem, since the onset of the aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, has reached 623 homes and facilities, including residential houses.
Some of these houses have been inhabited for decades, others are under construction, in addition to commercial and economic facilities that constitute a source of livelihood for dozens of Jerusalemite families.
