Khaberni -The Syrian Minister of Information, Hamza Al-Mustafa, spoke on Sunday night about the presence of approximately 300,000 active accounts that are spreading misleading content across four main countries.
The minister added on the platform "X" that the misleading content being published comes in different forms, some of which appear to support the state but are aimed at spreading divisive discourse.
The minister highlighted that Syria is still under US sanctions in terms of relations with social media platforms, and progress on lifting them is still slow despite the executive order signed by President Trump.
He noted that the continuation of sanctions hinders direct communication with these platforms, particularly in terms of combating misinformation campaigns and rumors.
"At the Ministry of Information, we are doubling our efforts to stop the generation of new accounts, which have recently reached significant levels (10,000 accounts daily), and we rely on public awareness until suitable conditions become available," the minister said.
He stated that fake accounts have lost their value in the new Syria, urging everyone to exercise caution and responsibility.
