The Reason Behind Taysir Fahmis 13Year Absence from Acting

Khaberni -The Egyptian artist Taysir Fahmi revealed details about her extended absence from the art scene, which lasted over 13 years, clarifying that it was not a retirement as some had thought, but a temporary decision to stop working, which extended over time without her realizing it.

This was disclosed during Taysir Fahmi's appearance on the show "El Setat" with the media personalities Mufeeda Sheiha and Soheir Jouda, where she discussed the backstory of that period in her life.

Taysir Fahmi explained, "Initially, I decided to pause for a temporary period, and I got involved in various social matters, then the years just flew by without me realizing, year after year, until I lost the sense of time."

She added firmly, "I never considered it retirement at all. Instead, I felt that I needed to explore myself in other fields, and I didn’t have any reasons for discomfort, on the contrary, until the last moment before making the decision, I was truly active, with two films and a series, and we owned a production company, and I didn’t face any professional issues."

With a touch of humor, artist Taysir Fahmi added, "Maybe I was doing you all a favor by stepping back. However, the circumstances at that time pushed me towards social work, and I got occupied with it, so much so that the years went by as if they were months."

Regarding the possibility of her returning to acting, she confirmed that she still holds a deep passion for the profession, saying, "Acting, especially for someone like me who loves it, I certainly miss it. But when I watch artistic works, I follow them as a regular viewer, without criticism or analysis, and I immerse myself in the work, whether I liked it or not."

She pointed out that the most striking works to her in the last Ramadan season were the series "Lam Shamsiyah" and also "Under Custody" from the season before last, explaining that she prefers works that carry a clear message and address significant societal issues, saying, "I prefer works that present a clear purpose and meaning, and make you feel that art has a real value in addressing societal issues."

The latest works of artist Taysir Fahmi was the second part of the series "The Fugitive," which co-starred a group of artists including Ahmed Rateb, Salah Rashwan, Rasheed Assaf, Fouad Sharaf El Din, Ashraf Musailhi, Sameh El Said, Ayman Azab, and Ali Hassanein. It was written by Ahmed Abu Bakr, screenplay and dialogue by Mohamed Suleiman, and directed by Youssef Sharaf El Din.
