Khaberni -The Cabinet decided in its session held today, Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, to approve the decision of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, which includes approving the agreement on the management, operation, and development of the truck control and monitoring project in partnership between the authority and Ayla slice company for digital solutions.

Under the agreement, Ayla Cap Company will be established for the purpose of developing and operating a digital system for the port system, with the aim of digitizing operations and services in Aqaba ports, facilitating the exchange of information among all parties (customs, ports, shipping companies, clearing agencies, the maritime authority, and others), which contributes to enhancing the efficiency of managing maritime and logistics operations in the Aqaba port system.

These actions are expected to accelerate the cycle of loading, unloading, and customs clearance, reduce operational costs and transaction completion time, enable digital tracking of operations, improve transparency, and provide a unified platform connecting government and private entities.

This step is central in the digital transformation of the logistics sector in Aqaba; enhancing Aqaba's position as a modern, digital smart regional port and supporting the regional competitiveness of Aqaba ports.

Among the services that will emerge from these measures, there will be a truck control project; aimed at regulating their entry and exit to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, which contributes to reducing congestion and improving traffic fluidity in the ports and logistics areas, digitizing the process of permit issuance, and tracking truck movements, which contributes to enhancing traffic safety, reducing accidents, increasing the efficiency of land transport and connectivity with the ports, and facilitating government monitoring of trucks and cargo movement.

These measures are expected to enhance the efficiency of managing the logistics infrastructure in Aqaba, enable the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority to enforce precise regulatory and financial control over truck movement, in addition to developing a smart transport system on roads and crossings, supporting the achievement of the economic updating vision’s objectives in the transport and logistics axis.

The decision included coordination with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship; to ensure the system’s alignment with government digital services and their governing protocols.
