Khaberni -The Director of Awareness in the General Administration of Traffic in Kuwait, Colonel Fahd Al-Eissa, announced that the number of fatalities from traffic accidents decreased by 34% during the first half of 2025.
Al-Eissa explained in a statement to the local newspaper "Al-Jarida" today, Monday, that 94 deaths due to traffic accidents were recorded during the first half of 2025, compared to 143 cases in the same period of 2024, marking a decline of 34%.
He also pointed out that "this decrease is attributed to several factors, foremost among them the recent amendments to the new traffic law, which have contributed to controlling risky behaviors and enhancing discipline on the roads."
He also said: "The development of the smart security and traffic system has effectively contributed to monitoring violations," emphasizing that "the citizens' and residents' compliance with the law has played a significant role in reducing accident and injury rates."
Al-Eissa also confirmed that "the decline in death numbers is a direct result of the community's cooperation with the security devices, and their conscious interaction with awareness campaigns," stressing on "the importance of continuing joint efforts to enhance traffic safety."
He added that "the media awareness campaign, which was launched concurrently with the implementation of the new traffic law on April 22 last year, is still ongoing, and focuses on targeting all segments of society, especially the youth category, through traditional media and social media platforms, as well as seminars and field lectures in schools and universities."
In recent years, Kuwait has seen increasing efforts to enhance traffic safety on the roads, amid growing concerns about the rising numbers of accidents and injuries, especially among young age groups.
In this context, Kuwait enacted new amendments to the traffic law in April 2025, which include stricter penalties for serious violations such as speeding, using a phone while driving, and dangerous overtaking, in addition to activating automated monitoring systems and smart surveillance.
