Bloomberg Request for a Strategic Review of the Saudi The Line Project

Khaberni -Bloomberg reported today, Tuesday, quoting knowledgeable sources, that a unit of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has requested consulting firms to conduct a strategic review of "The Line" project in Neom.

According to the sources, the review aims to assess the feasibility of the current plans and suggest possible modifications, with the option to proceed with the project's execution as it is without changes.

In an official statement, Neom company confirmed that this review is a "routine procedure for any large-scale project and is carried out in stages."

The company also emphasized that "The Line" project remains a "strategic priority," and that efforts are ongoing to ensure operational continuity, improve efficiency, and accelerate the pace of achievement.

In November last year, Neom city announced an acceleration of the first phase of "The Line" project by contracting with three global companies to deliver the master plan, designs, and engineering work for the first phase of the city.

"The Line" is located at the heart of Neom city, and the cost for its infrastructure ranges between 100 and 200 billion dollars. It includes a pair of skyscrapers clad in mirrors, and the kingdom hopes that it will eventually extend for 170 kilometers.

Saudi Arabia had previously approved, at an earlier time, the downsizing of "The Line" project, expecting it to accommodate around 300,000 people by 2030, whereas it was initially aimed to house 1.5 million people, according to Bloomberg.
