Khaberni -The engineering, electrical, and information technology industries in Jordan continue to enhance their presence in local and global markets, achieving remarkable performance over recent years and making a significant contribution to the national economy.
According to statistical data from the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the total exports of the sector reached 1.4 billion dinars last year, while indicators for the first quarter of this year show a 6 percent growth in exports compared to the same period of the previous year, reflecting a continuous upward momentum in the sector's vital performance.
The sector encompasses a wide range of advanced industries, notably: home electrical appliances, air conditioning and refrigeration, engines, lifting equipment, wires and cables, technology and electronics, metal forming, metal buildings, industrial equipment and machinery, jewelry, and ornaments.
The sector represents 12 percent of the total production of the manufacturing industries in the kingdom, contributing 1.6 percent to the gross domestic product, while providing more than 35,000 direct job opportunities across 4,800 industrial establishments.
According to the chamber, the sector experiences diversity in its export markets, led by the United States with a 45 percent share of exports, followed by Iraq at 11.3 percent, Saudi Arabia at 7.8 percent, and the United Arab Emirates at 3.8 percent.
The sector is among the top candidates to lead the technological transformation in the Jordanian industry, due to its integration with smart and digital sectors, making it a fundamental part of the economic modernization vision, particularly in the "priority sectors" axis targeting enhanced competitiveness and sustainability.
Statistical data indicate that the sector's current production volume exceeds two billion dinars annually, with added value reaching 620 million dinar and registered capital at 1.3 billion dinars.
The "Jordan Industry" indicated that the advanced performance of the engineering, electrical, and information technology sectors reflects the success of Jordanian industrial policies, opening up more opportunities for technological investments and global alliances, especially as the sector continuously experiences technological updates and developments.
