Khaberni -Continuing its program aimed at university students specializing in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and digital innovation (STEM) to support them in building a successful career path for a wide range of future professions, and keen on supporting women and enhancing their presence in all fields and sectors especially technological sectors and enabling them to achieve comprehensive development, Zain Jordan recently concluded the fifth edition of its "Women in Technology" program.
The launch of the program for the fifth consecutive year confirms Zain's ongoing commitment to empowering women and stimulating their active participation in technical and innovative fields to bridge the digital gender gap, and to build a modern digital society by providing equal opportunities that ensure they acquire the necessary skills to keep up with the rapid technological developments, which contributes to supporting the national digital economy and expanding the base of local competencies. The program aligns with the company's strategy to achieve the fourth goal "Quality Education", the fifth goal "Gender Equality", and the eighth goal "Decent Work and Economic Growth" of the Sustainable Development Goals applied by the company in all its programs in the field of sustainability management.
This year's program was inaugurated by the President of Al-Hussein Technical University, Professor Dr. Ismail Al-Hinti, and included students from Al-Hussein Technical University, where workshops and lectures were held at the university premises covering various topics including sustainability, technology, fifth-generation technologies, in addition to training sessions in the field of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data science and analysis. The program also included career counseling tracks, interview skills, and resume writing, and due to the program's success, Zain is planning to include the trained women in practical training across different departments of the company.
The "Women in Technology" program provides lectures and training workshops that equip the students with a wide range of diverse and necessary skills to enter the labor market, and increase their representation in technology fields. To date, the program has benefited 559 young women.
Zain is committed to launching and adopting many programs and initiatives that contribute to empowering women and enhancing their role in society; the company has supported its T-Talk language exchange program, which helps participants improve their language skills through interaction with native English speakers online, benefiting more than 2000 women to date. Over the past four years, through its ZINC platform for innovation and in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the company has conducted training workshops for women on the safe use of their smart devices under the title “Me and My Mobile”, targeting less fortunate women from the capital, Amman, and other governorates, contributing to eliminating digital illiteracy among women, with more than 169 women and girls benefiting from these workshops.
