Khaberni -Minister of Industry and Trade, Yarub Al-Qudah, confirmed on Tuesday that the historical relations between Jordan and Syria "have returned to flourish with the efforts of the governments," indicating that there are royal directives to stand by Syria since the change of regime.

Al-Qudah explained during the meetings of the joint Jordanian-Syrian Economic Trade Committee that both sides established a joint coordination council, aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and overcoming obstacles in the economic relationship.

For her part, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dana Al-Zu'bi, reviewed the most prominent agreements reached during the meetings, noting "an agreement on forming a bilateral committee to review the free trade agreement between Jordan and Syria, preparing lists of goods, and forming a direct communication committee to address challenges in the private sector’s trade exchange."

Al-Zu'bi added: "We emphasized the need to expedite the opening of the Bab al-Hawa crossing and agreed on the adoption of compliance certificates for Jordanian products entering Syria, and we will consider the adoption of Jordanian drugs," pointing to "agreement on training the Syrian side on digital transformation in the Ministry of Industry and Trade."

In agricultural matters, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mohammed Al-Hayari, said: "We agreed on preparing an agricultural calendar between the two countries that meets the interests and needs of both sides, and the trade exchange between the countries has seen significant growth." He added: "We agreed on appointing contact points between the two countries to accelerate work and avoid complications."

On his part, the Syrian Minister of Industry, Mohammed Al-Shaar stated that "Syria has suffered a lot, and today we are before a breakthrough and significant challenges to rebuild the state anew, and we need the help of everyone interested in Syria, with Jordan being the foremost country."

Al-Shaar emphasized that "the two countries need to merge their interests, and we have a single common goal, which is to raise the living standard in both countries."
