Khaberni -Egyptian media figure and host of the Al Ahly Guardian program, Ahmed Shobeir, confirmed today, Monday, that Al Ahly's top scorer, the Palestinian international Wissam Abu Ali, is determined to leave the team.
Ahmed Shobeir said on Al Ahly channel: "There was a meeting today with Wissam Abu Ali and frankly, Wissam is determined to leave, and here I say a piece of news: Al Ahly is determined to keep Wissam unless an appropriate offer comes."
He added: "Al Ahly hasn't closed the door on negotiations, but an offer of 6 million dollars is not suitable for the player. The player sees that 6 million plus 20% from the resale percentage and some privileges is a good figure for Al Ahly."
He continued: "My information is that the story with Al Wasl club is closed, and as for the American club, nobody responded to Al Ahly which gave a deadline for the response until July 10th."
He further said: "Al Ahly modified Wissam Abu Ali's contract and will modify it again, but the amount offered to Wissam Abu Ali from one of the clubs that were negotiating with him reached more than 4.5 million dollars as a salary, so Al Ahly officials talked to the player and told him if the offered amount to you is this, how can only 6 million dollars be offered to Al Ahly just for selling."
He concluded: "Al Ahly hasn’t closed the door on Wissam's departure, but was determined on a high number for selling the player. Wissam came to the club today, did not undergo physical measurements and said he has a cold, so will Wissam travel with Al Ahly’s delegation to Tunisia at the end of the week?"
It is worth mentioning that Al Ahly had announced a few days ago that Wissam Abu Ali will continue with the team until the end of his contract in 2029.
The statement clarified that this decision came after Al Ahly received an offer from Al Wasl UAE Club to buy Wissam Abu Ali, where the financial compensation increased from 2.5 to 4 then to 6 million dollars + 20% of the net return from the sale, and the club responded that the financial compensation offered does not match Al Ahly's demand and the player's capabilities, and Al Wasl did not contact again after Al Ahly made its stance clear.
At the same time, Al Ahly received an offer from Columbus Crew of the USA starting at 4 million dollars and reached 5.25 million dollars + 750 thousand dollars in additional benefits + 10% of the return from the sale, and Al Ahly responded that the financial compensation is less than expected, and the financial value of the player should not be less than 9.5 million dollars + 2.5 million dollars in additional benefits.
The negotiation period extended without a resolution from the American side and as the team prepares to start the new season, Al Ahly sent a letter to Columbus Crew specifying July 10th as the final day to receive the final response regarding the financial value, and the club did not receive any correspondence until the deadline mentioned, thereby closing the file on selling Wissam Abu Ali, who was fully aware of all the negotiations that took place and correspondences that were done with all parties.
