Khaberni -Huge swarms of bees caused panic inside a Turkish home in the Uzungol area, northern part of the country, after insects suddenly invaded the house, causing an unusual scene that required immediate intervention from a local beekeeper.
According to local media, the family was surprised by a dense gathering of bee swarms at the entrance of the house, which prompted the mother, in an attempt to protect her children, to use household pots to repel the insects amid a state of tension and fear.
Immediately, local beekeeper Murad Shahin intervened, who arrived at the scene wearing his beekeeping suit, and managed to control the situation without any injuries. He used a specially designed bag to collect the bees, and was able to contain the entire swarm in preparation for moving it to a new hive.
Shahin explained in press statements that what happened is scientifically known as a "bee swarm," which is a mass migration performed by young bees when they leave their original hive to establish a new colony. He noted that this phenomenon is completely natural in the life cycle of bees, but it can sometimes lead to the swarm settling in unsuitable places, as happened in this case.
Shahin added that the key to controlling these swarms lies in using the queen bee, as the entire swarm can be attracted to the bag once the queen is present, due to the attachment of the young bees to her and their inability to stray from her.
He confirmed that the family, especially the children, escaped the danger of stings, which can be harmful to some people, particularly those who suffer from allergies, while others may not be affected. He mentioned that bees become aggressive if they feel endangered or disturbed.
In concluding his remarks, Murad Shahin sent a message to the residents of areas where beekeeping is prevalent, urging them to remain calm in such situations and avoid random actions or attempting to forcibly repel the bees. He emphasized that contacting a specialized beekeeper is the best option to avoid danger. He added: "Attacking the swarm may lead to a violent collective reaction from the bees, posing a real threat to people’s lives."
